Thoughts on the Lost Finale

G804331_lost-season2_mynd3

I really enjoyed the story. I enjoyed theorizing about the details. I honestly fell in love with the characters.  In the end (and from the beginning, I belive) it has been all about the characters.

The LOST season finale will take a while to sink in, but I must confess that I was giddy with excitement and sad that it ended .... all at once.

Redemption. Jack came full circle.  Many characters found love.  Some of the biggest questions were addressed, and the writers finished the story they wanted to tell.

If you haven't seen this video, you've gotta check it out .... its from Seth in our office.  IMHO, it is much better than the winning video of the LOST finale promo contest.

Now that it's all over and resolved, I can't wait to hear more behind-the-scenes stuff about the show and about the creation of it.  Here are some big questions I wonder about:
- Was Walt special?  What was up with all that build-up?
- What about all the in-depth physics and time-travel that Faraday studied?
- What about the "healing properties of the island" that we heard about from time to time.

I intend to do a re-watch at some point ... although summer might be a challenging time to put much attention on it.  Thx D-Mac for challenging me to blog my thoughts about this episode.

Book Review: You Can Be Everything God Wants You to Be

So much of the world talks of looking inside ourselves for joy, truth, and happiness...as if everything we need can be found inside.  Lucado takes a similar but different approach.  He urges the reader to examine the skills God placed inside us for determining our unique place in life.

The big difference is the perspective we have when looking for what God equipped us with. God equips us in order to do what He calls us to do, oftentimes before we even realize what that calling entails.

Lucado shares the encouragement in his words that help articulate the love that our Heavenly Father has for us and the desire God has for me to be the best "me" I can be.  When I use the tools God equipped me with to his glory and for his purposes, I am happiest and at my best.

It is fascinating to think about and powerful to live like that.

Interestingly Lucado focuses on greed after talking about finding your sweet spot. He describes the circumstances and attitudes that can cause us to leave a great situation, job, or place in life for another.  Too often, we weigh our decisions based on our own desires or agendas rather than considering the calling the Lord has – which is dangerously flirting with greed.  Very interesting … I had never thought of it this way until reading this book.

God is in the details.  Only God can equip us with the tools for the sweet spot in life, and fittingly, Lucado reminds us that only God can help us defeat the greed that threatens to move us out of our sweet spot.  God has intricately assembled each of us to enjoy life to its fullest when we are using those skills He gave us to serve him.
