Today was an exciting day....We got to go to the doctor with the birthmom to find out if the baby was a boy or girl. It was a blessing because in our adoption journey, this was en experience that we never thought we would get to be a part of. The doctor's visit was really good and he baby and birthmother are all healthy. After about 15 minutes in the ultrasound room, we finally found out that its a girl!
So we went home and several of our neighbors all came out in the ya
rd to see the ultrasound pictures and get excited with us. We really do have the best neighborhood in the whole world.
We prepared boxes and mailed them to our family so they could open them and have a fun time finding out if it was a boy or girl. As it turns out, our familes were all doing different things, so it was later in the evening before we got to call them about the boxes.... but each of those conversations were very sweet. When calling my dad, step-mom, and step-brother, they were so sweet to pray for us on the phone and also to pray for the baby and birthmom.
Today was a lot of fun. Today feels like we got something. Today some of the pain of waiting went away.
Today we got to see our daughter.
Today I began to understand what people mean when they talk about all the joy you feel and how all the pain goes away when you hold the baby in your arms. At the end of the day, we laid in bed and laughed together, cried together, and we went to sleep feeling sooooooo blessed.

This week is what I refer to as "Birthday Week." I love birthdays and love to celebrate all week. This year I am getting the sweetest birthday gift ever. Thursday, October 21st, I am going to the doctor with our birth-mom to have a sonogram and find out if it is a BOY or GIRL!!! God's timing is so good and I feel like it is such a sweet gift to get to be a part of this, much less find this news out the day before my birthday!Please pray that this is a sweet time for us, but also pray for this sweet birth-mom. I know this will be a tough and emotional time for her as she hears those words. I hope this will be a time that I can love on her and minister to her, while also feeling excitement (such a tough balance)!I am excited and on Friday, the only thing I want to do for my birthday is go register for our baby at Babies-R-Us, so we are having a date night at the baby store! We were registered but about 3 weeks ago we got a letter in the mail saying they kicked us off the registry because no one had purchased anything off the registry in over a year!!! I had to laugh...who knew you could get kicked off a registry! It has been a long process, even Babies-R-Us feels that!Let's take a vote....BOY or GIRl??? Comment what your guess is! Tune in to facebook, twitter, and the blog for the ANNOUNCEMENT on Thursday night!
* the group of CentriKid staff who joined our office team to help with behind-the-scenes details for the event. We also had great opportunities to sit and talk about leadership with them as these men and women will be leaders at camp and in the "real world" in the future!
* I love the escalator photo of the group! Unfortunately the timing was off and not everybody was looking.
* Courtney is wearing a really funky trucker hat....she and Becky hosted at "tweet up" at one of the lunches.
* Worship was amazing at the conference and the lights and sound have never been better at this event.
* I attended Meredith's class on games...which was a lot of fun.
* Rick Burgess (from the radio show Rick & Bubba) spoke on Monday night. Troy is a big fan, so it was cool to snap a picture of the 2 of them and to see them have a chance to meet.
* On a personal note, I found a new favorite flavor of Sun Chips.
* The last picture is from a cool moment that happened in a workshop session.... I blogged about it earlier so you can click to read about that.
